Zune firmware releases
This webpage lists all firmware versions for Microsoft Zune. Firmware is the updatable software that runs on Zune players. The Zune player detects when a newer version of its firmware is available, and downloads it through your PC's Zune software.

Version 2.1
(Released November 13, 2007) |
Major firmware update, released along with 2nd-generation Zune players (Zune 80/8/4). This update included an updated user interface, and new functionality including improved wireless sharing (the 3-day restriction was removed from wireless song sharing), and wireless sync to PC capability.

Version 2.0
(Released November 13, 2007) |
2nd-generation Zune players (at least initially) arrive shipped with this firmware version. The firmware prevents the player functions from being accessed beyond the main menu. The firmware is immediately updated to Version 2.1 (or later) upon initial sync of the player.

This update brings "an improved shuffle experience" by making "successive shuffle actions produce more random lists."
