Video/Photo Review: Speck's Canvas Sport Case for Zune
Speck, the venerable maker of Zune, iPod, and other gadget cases, recently released its Canvas Sport case for Zune.
Initially we weren't sure if this case was our style - after loving Speck's ToughSkin and Executive leather cases - but were quickly captivated by the grippy shoe-like feel of this case as well as its well-designed features. The casual, sporty style of the Canvas Sport case adds an element of fun to the protection it affords your Zune player.

Packaging. The Canvas Sport is boxed in Speck's attractive packaging shown below. We like the little touches that show Speck's attention to detail, such as the finger-holes (pictured) that make it easier to pull the innards out of the box.
Features and Performance. Thick shock-absorbing rubber on the sides and corners of the case provide effective cushioning against drops and bumps. The treadmark patterns along the rubber make this among the best cases we've seen for non-slip grip.
The back of the case hinges open to accept the player, and seals closed with a metal snap fastener.
Openings are provided for the headphone jack and hold switch at the top of the player, and for the sync cable at the bottom. The openings provide ample room for attaching and removing the connectors. You may have some trouble working the hold switch through the case's opening - at least if you have short fingernails.
The control pad, back button, and play/pause button are accessed through an opening in the case. I found the operation of the control pad was unhindered, although - as with many cases - your finger or thumb may feel a bit crowded when you need to press the Back and Play/Pause buttons.
Good screen protection is provided by a clear plastic guard stitched into the canvas.
Speck also has a limited-edition brown Canvas Sport case, shown below.
From every angle, the Canvas Sport leaves your player well-protected and stylish. Perfect for your Zune's casual Fridays..!
