Review: DLO's Action Jacket for Zune
Today we look at DLO's Action Jacket - a neoprene sports case for Zune that comes with both a velcro armband and a belt clip. We've taken this case out snowboarding (twice) and found it to be a well-designed and comfortable sports holder for your Zune.
Packaging. The Action Jacket arrives enclosed in the hard plastic packaging shown below.
What you get. In the package, you get the neoprene case, the armband, and beltclip.
Features and Performance. The stretchy neoprene case holds your player snugly and securely. The screen is protected from scrapes and scratches with a stitched-in, clear plastic covering. The player's control pad is is accessed through an opening in the case. The Back and Play/Pause buttons are covered, with their location indicated by symbols on the case. The operation of the player's buttons is not hindered by the case's thin layer of neoprene.
The player slides in from the top of the case. A flap wraps over the top and velcros to the back of the case. The flap covers the hold switch, but leaves the headphone jack accessible. Sync cable access is provided through an opening at the bottom of the case. The sides and back of the player are completely covered by the case.
The back of the case has two cloth straps for the armband to thread through. These could be used to thread a belt through as well, if you prefer that method to the belt clip. The straps are long enough to accept a 2-1/4" wide belt. Also on the back is a metal retainer which accepts the plastic belt clip.
The armband is 16 1/2" long, unstretched. Its five sections of velcro loops make it widely adjustable to fit a lot of arm sizes, and to accommodate layers of clothing.
The belt clip snaps securely onto the retainer, and can be disconnected by pressing its spring-loaded release.
