MVP Summit Updates?
« on: April 14, 2008, 06:50:55 AM »

Zunerama Ed., is it your intention to provide some sort of daily post that summarizes the days events & discussions (at least the non-nda stuff)?  Here are a couple of misc questions...

- Did you get to meet J. Allard?  Why haven't we seen more of him..especially since the launch of Zune 4/8/80?

- Is Bill Wittress (ZuneGuy.com) and David Caulton (Zunester.com) still on the Zune team...they haven't blogged anything in months?

Yes - I will share what I can, while of course respecting the NDA.

I've been wondering those same questions. I believe they're both still part of the Zune team, but will find that out.

Heading out the door now for Day 1.

Nothing of substance to report from today's introductory sessions, but here are a few notes and pix:

As I prepared to leave for the MVP Summit this morning, my wife took the above picture... along with some dry comments about how well I'd fit in at the GeekFest.

The Summit is at the Washington State convention center today, then the Microsoft campus the rest of the week.

A lot of great discussions today in the open sessions, with Zune coming up repeatedly in the sessions I was in. Many MVPs have Zunes, it seems, and I've had some great discussions with them today. Also met with my Zune MVP lead, and with a few other website owners in the Zune, music player, and digital media space.

The Canadians are here in force... along with people from dozens of other countries.

More to come.

Got a real chuckle out of the gadget pic. Please tell me that those are a pair of sunglasses on the far right, and not one of the those 3D vision viewer things!
However I did notice you don't carry a GPS device! Man what are you thinking, you could get lost there in Seattle. Grin
Oh wait, maybe that device sixth from the left is a GPS. If it is please accept my apology.
Just curious you said a lot of folks there at the conference had Zunes (I would certainly hope so) what version ( 80, 30, 8 or 4) do most of them have?

Yes, those are shades, not the video goggles. Hmmm, come to think of it, wonder how the prices are on those things these days...  Smiley

You are right, Device #6 from the left is a Garmin Nuvi 260. I got it last Christmas, and it's a lifesaver.

On the Zune player sightings, I've seen probably a dozen Zune 30s, probably almost that many 8's, and four or five 80s. This evening I sampled some original tracks from Patrick Hefner of Ind-Music.com - - nice to put that wireless to work.

Spent a good part of the day on the Microsoft campus - with Zune team members, various Microsoft technical groups, and the above three rascals. (That's Cesar from ZuneInsider, Stefan from ihaveazune, and Grahm from AnythingButiPod.)

This day certainly exceeded my expectations. Great interaction with the Zune team, and I also participated in an enlightening session with the Windows Media Player team, shown below.

As you know, I'm under strict NDA on what I learned. Suffice it to say... I end this day feeling energized and very stoked up about what our Zune team has been doing.

We are in good hands, my friends. More to come, when more can be said.

Hey, you can always just assume he's running Vista on it, right?

When does the NDA expire?  Innocent enough question, right?

Hmm, you are angling, aren't you?  Smiley

It's a good question, but alas I'm not able to talk about timing.
