Circuit City ad - goof
« on: November 25, 2007, 07:31:51 PM »

My local paper shows a Zune 4GB at $214.99, along with a "free $15 Zune Marketplace card with purchase".

Not much of a deal! Zune 4s go for $149.99.

I call my local Circuit City, and "Jenny" told me that they're selling Zune 4s for $149.99. She wasn't aware of the ad, which must be a typo.

She also wasn't aware of any deals where you get a free ZMP card.

Microsoft should sue circuit city for damages then use the money to fund better promotions and giveaways for the Zune line.

That is a good idea. Recentley I went to my local Meijer and the had a wall of iPod crap but all they had for Zune was a tiny little table devoted to our favorite Multimedia Player

Updated OP with a scan of the ad. Sounds like C/City ran this ad nationwide. Unfortunate.

I have two major issues with this ad.  The most obvious is the error on the 4gb price.  The second is the blatant inflation of MSRP to support the "free" ZMP card.  Since when did CC manipulate prices like a car dealership?

Amazing, and it even makes the iPod touch look better above it, since it's not much more for twice the capacity  Roll Eyes

Actually that's an ARCHOS 30GB above it. (The iPod Touch maxes out at 16GB I think.)

Current online prices ... all without S&H and tax ...

BestBuy.com ... sale on Zune 80 for $237.49 ... but is backordered ...
CircuitCity.com ... claims MSRP is $299.99 and it's on sale for $249.99 ... Roll Eyes
Target.com ... $224.91 ... with 10% off on preorder
Walmart.com ... $247.88 ... marketed as MP3 video player

Note: Pricegrabber.com has a $5 Product Review bonus offer
