I wasnt expecting something greater than the true iPod video by 8 hours on audio and 1 hour less for video...something like 24/4 should have been good in my view for Zune 80..but 30/4...EXCELLENT!
So, with my bad math....2 hours from video can net you 10-15 hours from audio....GREAT!

and by how fast these new zune recharges and uses Windows Vista....this looks better and better as a personnal PVR/DAP hybrid....GRANDIOSE...!! Cheesy

These battery life figures are the only thing that would make me ditch my Zune 30 for a Zune 80.  I've been slightly disappointed by the 30's battery life without WiFi on.  I don't really need the extra hdd space and I prefer the finish on current gen, but I could use almost double the battery life, especially since I'll be using WiFi more for the sync.

I wonder if reconditioned models have a different battery, because the refurb I bought isn't too bad. I can at least go for 2 days without cutting it close (with WiFi off of course)

Yours probably has a brand new battery in it even though you bought it refurbished.

Yeah the battery life is even better than the leaked numbers by Amazon which are now fake I guess.

Wow. That might be enough to make me ditch my gen 1 for a new Zune.

So having atleast 20hrs of battery life is good enough for me. I have my zune docked alot so it doesnt matter awhole lot. Plus Gen 1 Zune lasted long enough for me traveling places.

30 hours battery life is pretty amazing for this type of unit.  If the screen was smaller and the Zune 2 hard drive player wasn't a new rather than an upgraded design, I guess it would have better battery life.  Microsoft has been playing this sort of catch-up game, but I like what they have.  This will probably turn out to have about three times the battery life of the old Zune in real conditions, and that is really good.
