Zune 80 Interface Demonstration
« on: October 03, 2007, 04:02:18 PM »

Seattle PI has the best video yet of the Zune interface:
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/334041_zune03.html

Front page on Zunescene.
http://www.zunescene.com/

Looks extremely fluid. Like I stated long ago, not sure if its due to the old firmware, but the Zune 30's on display at BestBuy are laggy. That was the sole reason why I decide to not get one. But judging by that video, they have a stronger processor I guess. SMOOTH like buttah. I'm just a bit disappointed by the expanded 3.2" LCD with same 320x240 reso. I hope it doesn't look pixelated. LED Backlit would've been nice too.

It may also be possible that the Zune on display at BestBuy does not have the updated firmware, which greatly helped with the lagging problem the zune had early on.

The new UI looks really cool.  I really think MS hit a hoerun with this one.  The iPod's lackluster update just made the race a lot closer.

Trust me, a 3.2" display running 320x240 will not look pixelated as long as the original image is of high resolution.

If there is one big complain I have with my Zune, is the 64k color.  There is no excuse for any product to have this low color amount these days (yes I know it saves on battery but still!).

Where did you read 64k color? Because last i check they have not told us and its 65k not 64k.  So please enlighten me were you come up with that conclusion that its 65k.

Trust me, a 3.2" display running 320x240 will not look pixelated as long as the original image is of high resolution.

That doesn't make any sense. It's still 320x240, no matter what size the original image was. It'll end up no more or less blocky than a straight 320x240 image that didn't need resizing.

Also, I'm sorry that you didn't find the original Zune firmware to be speedy enough for you, SilentBliss. I had no issues with it being laggy; might I suggest that Best Buy is the culprit here? They're likely running on the first (I.E., not even enabling wireless sharing!) firmware, as with every other retailer that I've seen. (This makes sense, as other Zune users could otherwise bring in, ahem, questionable content and put it on anyone's display with the wireless sharing.)

I can assure you that the new interface, while totally rockin', is still no more or less speedy than the current one!  Wink

Notice a few things on the interface....
- The words on the main menu are semi-transparent
- In Album view, you can't see the Album Artist on non-selected albums. (I dont like this)
- In Album viw, the small letters are covering the Album Art. (I dont like this)

- The flash effect when your select is cool.
