Questions anyone?
« on: October 03, 2007, 12:54:00 AM »

I may have an opportunity tomorrow morning to get some questions answered by Microsoft.

You got questions? Post'em here and I'll try to get answers.

Here are a couple softballs to get us started:

1. What's the screen resolution?

2. Do the new Zunes come with preloaded content? What is it? Is it different for the Zune 80 vs the Zune 4/8?

3. Battery life? If not fully tested, when will we know?

4. Gapless playback?

5. Why is Album Artist not a sorting filter?

6. Clock? Tongue

7. (Seriously) Will the firmware be released alongside the new Zunes? Or will it be made available for current Zune owners sooner?

Oh and psst rerush, and I believe numero 4 has been answered. Yes, there's gapless playback.

Here I had always thought they were one and the same. Shows I'm no gapless/lossless user.

1) Is there a possibility that games will, perhaps one day, be included in firmware update?
2) Can one totally customize the ui - such as bringing the next home screen menu to look like the home screen menu on the Zune 1?
3) Is the ability to change the wallpaper still included? Can one change the font?
4) When will you drop the Zune Software and just use Windows Media Player 11 instead?
5) Will it be released for other countries and will it be CE-marked?HuhHuh?
6) 16:9 ?

...and then of course, what day in November will it be released?  Wink

p.s.: will it support unicode?

Ed:

Ask about transcoding of the MCE files.  I think the MCE recording to the Zune (for me0 was the 2nd best feature.  Does this mean Zune will have dvr-ms as a codec now or are we transcoding?

I'm not sure if this is a question for MS or a question someone else can help me with:  I am a big fan of the tactile control button for the Zune 1, but it seems Zune 2 is more touch control.  Can you do both or will you have to use the touch control?

I would also like to know if bookmarking and audible support have been included.

Does the bigger screen have more DPI or higher resolution, is it a true wide screen?
