Nice tutorial, Kevin! Thank you.

With the settings you specify in the tutorial, the converted movies should sync directly to Zune players, without needing to be re-converted. Excellent!

Sad  I really wanted to try this out but during the install of DVD-WMD, at the point of AviSynth, I receive an error.  It can't copy avisynth.dll to system folder or something...

Too bad.  Undecided

You can try to manually download and install AviSynth here:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=57023&package_id=72557

Or it might mean you already have Avisynth installed, try installing DVD-WMV without checking the box for Avisynth

Thanks for the guide, but I keep getting interupted in step 5 of DVD-WMV.  During a preprocessing phase it reports an unhandled package.   Huh  All the software seems to be loaded properly and functions well up to that point.
Any ideas.

tmgux: Thanks for the suggestions.  It could be possible that Avisynth was installed during one of many of these new DVD to Zune programs I've tried recently.

I will try both of your suggestions after work and report back incase anyone else is having the same issue.

Usually an unhandled package error means theres something wrong in the Audio or Video settings. I would double check the settings under the Encoding tab.

When I try to install the Avisynth thingy, it says I need administrator priveleges! Being the owner of my laptop... aren't I the administrator?

I was able to install an older version of Avisynth.  Now, I receive an unhandled exception in step 2.  Huh

Thanks I will mark this thread for futrie reference.

 A couple questions.

1) Is this safe and stable to try ? I know I'm old school and chicken. Seems like it's not working for a few posters here Huh

2) If I download all 3 of the above files and am ready to start a conversion do I have to open a certain file to get started?

3)When put in the DVD I want to convert wil it just start playing? or will the file put it on hold for converting?

4) I wanted to try to convert my new Pirtaes of teh caribbean deadmans chest DVD. Aren't they protected so you can't copy them ?

Sorry for the dumb questions, but this is Greek to me......

This actualy worked for me. Though I haven't checked the quality yet, the program went through all five steps even without that weird R-program installed. I'll update later about how the video came out, but if it went well, this is great.

OK. This totally rocks! The first time I downloaded something I accidently killed it my making the screen (329 by 480) but after fixing that, the movies went straight into my Zune. It was perfect. It even made the widescreen movies fullscreen, using the Zune's full screen. It's great and I was even able to have more than one DVD ripping at the same time (I inserted another after the DVDDecrypter Stage).

Thanks a million for this great guide. Grin
