More recent digital cameras have started coming with the ability of HD video shooting. For many compact cameras, like Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS35, Panasonic DMC-GH2 and Panasonic DMC-TZ10/ZS7, there is a need to utilize a more efficient video format to store more video with less capable hardware. At this moment, a more efficient video format of AVCHD Lite is introduced.

AVCHD Lite video is not a easily playable and editable video format. For example, many current video editing software can not support AVCHD Lite video editing without an update, including Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express and iMovie.
