Here's an oldy but goody. No software required... just add a shortcut to Firefox. (works with MSIE too) This works wonderfully!

You can save yourself the download step and just go here:
http://www.captureyoutube.net
That one works great for me. Plus it does all the converting for you.

I finally had a YouTube video I wanted to convert. (Anyone remember the BASF Ad from the 1980's? "Dear John"??) It worked like a charm!

Ah, I think I have a better way of doing this.
Find the add-on for Firefox titled "VideoDownloader" (simple as that). Now, when you have that all installed and everything, go to any YouTube of your choice, add the high quality code to the end of the video url (&fmt=18), and click on the little arrow to the right of the downloader's icon (which should be to the left of the url box). Then, scroll down and find that there should be a "video.mp4" file! Download that (you will need to navigate away from the page for the download to commence), and voila! You will have downloaded a video from YouTube in high quality! And in the same size as normal quality videos, too!

That would be fine but I don't use Firefox.

For some reason KeepVid hasn't been working for me. It has numerous times but now when I download it, my computer doesn't recognize the file. Does anyone know what I might have done? Figured it out That would be fine but I don't use Firefox.
I am curious...why not? Firefox is a bit more secure, and makes the layouts of web pages look much better. I love it. What don't you like about it?

Ya do realize that there are more worthy competitors to IE than Firefox, right (and indeed IE is now a worthy competitor in its own right)?

Oh, I admit it's been over a year since I tried it. At that time there were websites that just didn't work with Firefox. Some people don't mind switching over to a different browser when that happens, but to me that's just bothersome. Opera was the same way. Plus... I'm used to Microsoft's IE. Ricardo doesn't like that I have lots of toolbars , but I like 'em and use 'em.

Find the add-on for Firefox titled "VideoDownloader Authorhouse publishing" (simple as that). Now, when you have that all installed and everything, go to any YouTube of your choice, add the high quality code to the end of the video url (&fmt=18), and click on the little arrow to the right of the downloader's Authorhouse icon (which should be to the left of the url box). You will have downloaded a video from YouTube in high quality! And in the same size as normal quality videos, too!
I'll try to do this when I reach home from work. Thanks for this by the way.
