Rumors aplenty about Marketplace outage
We are currently in the middle of an unusually long scheduled outage for Zune Marketplace.
Our little tech world is now rife with rumors about what’s going on: Is Zune Marketplace coming to Xbox Live? Is this just a re-organizing of the (somewhat shared) Xbox and Zune servers? Is Microsoft rolling out a few more Zune games? Or is it, as Ed Oswald posits, the first step in a video-related enhancement?
My theory, definitely the most boring, is that it’s just a server upgrade and database re-organization, to rid the playcount lag we’ve been seeing since the September 16th release of Version 3.0.
Personally, I wanna hear what Stefan has to say - his track record on predictions certainly beats mine.
I’ve asked the Zune team about it, and they’ve been mum. ‘Til I know more, I’m keeping my expectations low.
