Insider clues from Wal-Mart: Zune 80GB and 4GB discontinued?
A Wal-Mart worker just sent Zunerama some clues on the new Zune line-up:
- There is no longer a shelf label for the black Zune 80, and it’s listed in Wal-Mart’s database as NRPL (non-replenishable). That means Wal-Mart can no longer order the black Zune 80.
- The Zune 4GB player is also showing up as NRPL.
This *could* mean that Microsoft is simply planning SKU changes for those models, but the more likely scenario is that the 4GB and 80GBs are being discontinued… in favor of newer high-capacity models.
The obligatory fuzzy picture above shows a screenshot of the Zune 80 NRPL status in the Wal-Mart stocking system.
